Universal expense-sum math; PKR (Rs) display default.
How to Use the Transport Cost Calculator
Enter load weight and each transport expense. Total kiraya, cost per kg, and an itemised breakdown update live.
- Enter total quantity in kilograms (required).
- Optionally enter crate/bag count for cost per unit.
- Fill fuel, toll, driver, loading, unloading, and other expense fields (zero if not applicable).
- Review total transport cost, cost per kg, breakdown table, and cost per unit.
- Download PDF or Reset for another trip.
Methodology
Total transport cost = sum of fuel, toll, driver, loading, unloading, and other expenses. Cost per kg = total ÷ kg. Cost per unit = total ÷ units when units are provided; otherwise it matches cost per kg.
Worked examples
- 500 kg, fuel Rs 4,000, driver Rs 2,000, loading/unloading Rs 3,000 total → Rs 18/kg if no other costs.
- 1,000 kg, 40 crates, total Rs 20,000 → Rs 20/kg and Rs 500/crate.
- Include toll and ice charges under toll or other expenses so they flow into per-kg cost.
Common mistakes
- Using billing weight (crates × average) without entering actual kg.
- Forgetting return-trip diesel or bribe/toll cash in other expenses.
- Dividing by units when mandi price is per kg — use cost per kg for pricing.
Limitations
One trip worksheet — no multi-drop allocation, amortised vehicle ownership, or fuel-price estimation. Allocate shared loads manually before entering totals.
FAQ
Why is cost per kg important?
Wholesale fruit and vegetable pricing is usually quoted per kilogram. Knowing kiraya per kg helps set a break-even or target selling price in the mandi and compare truck options.
What is the difference between cost per kg and per unit?
Cost per kg divides total transport by kilograms. If you also enter a unit count (crates, bags), cost per unit divides the same total by that count — useful for per-crate accounting.
How is total transport cost calculated?
Total = fuel + toll + driver + loading + unloading + other expenses. Each line defaults to zero if left blank.
What if I only know cost per crate?
Enter total kg and optional unit count. You can enter combined loading/unloading in one field or split them — the total is what matters for per-kg math.
Do I need to enter quantity in units?
No. Units are optional. Without units, cost per unit equals cost per kg.
Can I feed this into the Profit Calculator?
Yes. Copy the total transport cost from the breakdown and enter it as transport (kiraya) in the Profit Calculator.
Do results update live?
Yes. Edit kg, units, or any expense line and cost per kg recalculates immediately.
Does this include empty return trip fuel?
Only if you include it in fuel or other expenses. The calculator does not assume a return leg automatically.
Can I download the breakdown?
Yes. PDF export includes each expense line, total, cost per kg, and cost per unit.
Is this only for Pakistan?
Kiraya/palledari labels target Sabzi Mandi workflows, but the formulas are global. Currency follows site admin settings.
