How to Use the Currency Converter

Enter an amount, choose From and To currencies (fiat or crypto), convert, then review the converted amount, exchange rate, source, and timestamp. Use presets, favorites, or URL parameters for common pairs such as EUR → PLN.

Rate sources

  • Fiat: open.er-api.com with USD as base, cross-rates computed for non-USD pairs.
  • Crypto: CoinGecko USD prices, bridged through USD for mixed pairs.
  • Cache ~1 hour in browser; static bundled snapshots if APIs fail.
  • Each result labels live, cache, or static fallback and not-real-time when applicable.

Are rates live?

Yes when online: fiat from open.er-api.com and crypto from CoinGecko, each cached for about an hour. If the network fails, the tool falls back to cache then static snapshots and shows a not-real-time banner.

Which currencies are included?

Major ISO 4217 fiat including USD, EUR, GBP, CHF, PLN, JPY, CNY, AUD, CAD, INR, PKR and others in the catalog, plus BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT, and USDC. Use ?from=EUR&to=PLN on this same page URL.

Can I convert EUR, USD, GBP or CHF to PLN?

Yes. Polish zloty (PLN) is included. Use PLN preset chips or query parameters such as ?from=EUR&to=PLN. Rates change and are not a live trading feed.

How does crypto conversion work?

Crypto USD prices come from CoinGecko and cross rates bridge through USD when converting crypto ↔ fiat or crypto ↔ crypto. The result shows rate, source, and timestamp.

What do live, cache, and static fallback mean?

Live is a fresh API snapshot. Cache reuses a recent browser-stored quote (about one hour). Static fallback uses bundled reference rates when APIs are unavailable — always labelled not real-time.

Can I bookmark or share a currency pair?

Yes. Set from and to currencies and the URL updates with ?from=XXX&to=YYY on /tools/calculators/currency-converter. Favorites and recent pairs are stored locally in your browser.

Does Swap reverse the pair?

Yes. Swap exchanges From and To currencies and updates the query string so the pair stays shareable.

Is this a bank or forex trading rate?

No. Mid-market-style reference rates for planning and travel math. Banks, card networks, and exchanges apply spreads, fees, and cut-off times that this tool does not model.

Are conversion amounts uploaded?

Amounts you enter are used for the calculation in your browser. Live rate fetches call public FX/crypto APIs; ToolsLibrary does not store your conversion history on servers (recent pairs use local storage only).
