Income Tax Calculator

Free income tax calculator for planning with verified jurisdiction rules only — never a fake universal tax formula. The country selector lists jurisdictions with official rule sets loaded into the engine. v1 supports Pakistan income tax using Admin/CMS FBR progressive slabs by Finance Act / tax year, including salaried, business, freelancer (with optional PSEB export final tax), and AOP income types. Enter income, optional bonus, allowances, other income, and deductible expenses; choose monthly or annual salary input where relevant. See taxable income, tax by slab, surcharge when configured, net income, and effective rate. United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and others are not offered until verified. Estimation only — not tax advice or official filing.

  2. Select Tax jurisdiction (v1: Pakistan) and Tax year from CMS-managed FBR years.
  3. Choose Income type: salaried, business, freelancer, or AOP.

Methodology & progressive tax brackets

Progressive taxation computes income tax in graduated statutory brackets (marginal tax rates). Rather than taxing total income at the highest rate reached, each dollar or currency unit within a specific bracket is taxed solely at that bracket's designated percentage.

Taxable income equals gross taxable earnings minus statutory allowances, standard deductions, and retirement contributions. Net tax payable reflects gross calculated tax minus non-refundable and refundable personal tax credits.

Pakistan engine (v1)

  • Progressive slabs injected from Admin/CMS by tax year and income type.
  • Taxable income built from salary, bonus, allowances, other income minus deductible expenses.
  • Surcharge and freelancer export rules applied only when present in CMS config.
  • Unsupported countries are listed as not available — no placeholder rates.

Worked examples

  • Pakistan salaried: 150,000/month → annualized taxable income, tax from FBR slabs for selected year.
  • Pakistan salaried annual income 0 → zero tax and zero effective rate.
  • Business income with deductible expenses → lower taxable base before slab tax.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting US/UK/AU/CA calculations before those jurisdictions are verified and enabled.
  • Mixing monthly entry with annual slab thinking without checking the salary period toggle.
  • Treating planning output as an FBR return or withholding certificate.
  • Ignoring surcharge, super-tax, or regime options your actual filing requires.

Limitations

Planning estimates only — not tax advice, not e-filing, not withholding on payroll. v1 calculates verified Pakistan rules from CMS; other countries appear only when officially plugged in. Always verify with FBR and a qualified advisor.

FAQ

Which countries does this income tax calculator support?

Only jurisdictions with verified tax rule sets appear in the country selector. In v1 that is Pakistan (FBR slabs via Admin/CMS). United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries are not supported yet — we do not invent rates.

Why can’t I select USA, UK, Canada, or Australia?

Income tax depends on official brackets, filing status, deductions, credits, and often state/provincial rules. Until those are verified from authoritative government sources and documented, they are not offered as calculable jurisdictions.

Where do Pakistan tax rates come from?

From Admin → Tax Management (CMS pakistanTax): Finance Act / FBR progressive slabs by tax year and income type. The engine applies injected slabs — it does not hardcode FBR tables in the page UI.

Is this the same as the Pakistan Salary Tax Calculator?

It uses the same verified Pakistan engine and CMS slabs. This tool is the global jurisdiction shell with Pakistan as the first verified plug-in; the dedicated Pakistan tool remains the deep Pakistan-focused experience.

Is this official tax advice or filing software?

No. Results are estimates for planning only — not tax advice, not an official government calculator, and not a substitute for filing or a licensed advisor.

Which Pakistan income types are supported?

Salaried, business, freelancer, and AOP (association of persons). Freelancer mode includes normal progressive tax or optional PSEB export final tax when configured. AOP can reflect professional-firm cap rules from CMS settings.

Can I enter monthly salary?

Yes for salaried income. Choose monthly or annual salary period; the engine annualizes monthly figures using configured months-per-year before applying progressive slabs.

What is effective tax rate?

Effective rate = estimated total tax ÷ taxable income (shown as a percentage). It summarizes your overall burden across slabs — different from the marginal rate on your top bracket alone.

Are surcharge and freelancer export rules included?

When enabled in CMS pakistanTax settings, surcharge on tax and freelancer PSEB export final tax rules are applied by the engine. If a rule is not configured, it is not invented.

Are my income figures uploaded?

No. Salary, bonus, and expense inputs are calculated in your browser. They are not uploaded to ToolsLibrary servers for this calculator.
