How to Use the Pakistan Salary Tax Calculator

Select FBR tax year and income type, enter monthly or annual PKR income with optional additions or expenses, then review progressive tax, take-home, and slab breakdown. FBR-oriented estimate only — not filing advice.

  1. Select Tax Year from the dropdown (active default is marked; archived years available for comparison).
  2. Choose Income Type: Salaried Individual, Business, Freelancer, or AOP.
  3. Pick Monthly or Annual for the primary income period.
  4. For Freelancers with PSEB export enabled, choose normal progressive tax or export final tax regime.
  5. For AOP, optionally enable Professional firm (rate cap) when applicable.
  6. Enter salary/income, optional bonus and taxable allowances (salaried), other income, and deductible expenses (non-salaried).
  7. Press Calculate and review annual/monthly tax, surcharge, take-home, slab breakdown, and chart summary.

Income types

  • Salaried Individual — salary slabs (≥75% salary income assumption in hint).
  • Business — sole prop / non-salaried progressive slabs; enter deductible expenses.
  • Freelancer — business slabs or PSEB export final tax when configured.
  • AOP — non-salaried slabs with optional professional-firm rate cap.

FBR slab methodology

Taxable income is annualised, placed into progressive bands from Admin → Tax Management, and taxed at each band’s rate. Surcharge settings from Admin apply when configured. Results show annual and monthly tax plus take-home — estimates only.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong income type (for example salaried slabs for freelance business income).
  • Omitting taxable allowances, bonus, or deductible expenses that change annual taxable income.
  • Treating this estimate as final FBR liability without exemptions or rebates.

Limitations

Configured slabs and surcharge only — not a substitute for FBR filing, employer payroll, or professional tax advice. Regional FBR rules, exemptions, and mid-year law changes may not be reflected until Admin is updated.

FAQ

How is Pakistan salary tax calculated?

Annual taxable income is placed into progressive FBR slabs configured in Admin. Tax for each band is computed at that band’s rate; totals become annual tax, monthly tax, and take-home pay.

Are tax slabs hardcoded?

No. Tax years, slabs, rates, and the active year are managed in Admin → Tax Management so new FBR announcements do not require code changes.

Does this include rebates and exemptions?

This estimate uses configured slabs only. Actual liability may differ after exemptions, rebates, deductions, and filing status.

What income types are supported?

Salaried Individual, Business, Freelancer (normal progressive or PSEB/IT-export final tax), and AOP. Each type uses its own Admin-configured slab set. AOP can optionally apply a professional-firm rate cap.

What is the PSEB export final tax option?

For eligible IT exporters, Freelancer mode can use a configured final tax rate on export income instead of normal progressive business slabs — select the regime shown when PSEB export rules are enabled in Admin.

Can I enter monthly or annual income?

Yes. Choose Monthly or Annual for the primary income field. The calculator annualises or divides consistently before applying progressive slabs.

What is the AOP professional firm rate cap?

When enabled for AOP, slab rates can be capped at the configured professional-firm maximum (shown in Admin) for associations that cannot incorporate under professional rules.

Which FBR tax year should I pick?

Select the tax year label matching your calculation period (for example Finance Act 2025). Archived years remain available for comparison. The active default year is marked in the selector.

Is this official FBR advice?

No. This is a planning estimate using Admin-managed FBR-oriented slabs and surcharge settings. Confirm final tax with FBR rules, your employer payroll, or a qualified tax adviser before filing.

Is my salary data uploaded?

Calculations run in your browser. Income figures you enter are not uploaded to ToolsLibrary servers as part of the tax calculation workflow.
