Zakat Calculator

Calculate personal Zakat for Pakistan using Hanafi-oriented silver nisab (612.32 g), optional gold nisab, or government notified bank threshold. Enter cash, bank, FX, prize bonds, gold and silver, investments, business assets, receivables, and deductible debts. Gold and silver rates come from Admin settings with manual override. Educational planning tool only — not religious fatwa or legal advice; confirm nisab and asset treatment with a qualified scholar when unsure.

How to Use the Zakat Calculator

  1. Review gold and silver PKR/gram rates shown at the top; override manually if needed.
  2. Select nisab method: silver nisab, gold nisab, or government notified threshold.
  3. Enter assets: cash, bank balances, foreign currency (amount × FX rate), prize bonds, gold (grams + purity), silver, investments, business stock/cash, receivables, loans given, and other assets.
  4. Enter liabilities: outstanding debts, amounts due within 12 months, and personal liabilities.
  5. Press Calculate Zakat and review total assets, net wealth, active nisab, and Zakat payable (2.5% when applicable).
  6. Use Share to copy or share the summary, or Reset to start a new calculation.

Nisab methods

  • Silver nisab — 612.32 g × current silver rate (common Hanafi default).
  • Gold nisab — configured gold weight × current gold rate.
  • Government notified — PKR threshold used by banks for at-source deduction.

Formula

Net wealth = total assets − deductible liabilities. When net wealth ≥ active nisab, Zakat payable = net wealth × 2.5%. Gold value uses weight × purity factor × gold rate; silver uses weight × silver rate.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing bank at-source nisab with personal silver/gold nisab without understanding the difference.
  • Omitting worn gold jewellery when using Hanafi defaults.
  • Deducting full long-term mortgage principal when the configured rule uses 12-month due amounts.

Limitations

Educational calculator with Hanafi-oriented defaults for Pakistan. Not a fatwa, tax ruling, or substitute for a qualified Islamic finance adviser. Rates and government nisab figures depend on Admin configuration.

FAQ

Which nisab should I use in Pakistan?

Hanafi practice commonly uses silver nisab (612.32 g × current silver rate). Banks use a government notified PKR figure for at-source deduction on savings — that may differ from your personal religious calculation.

Is gold jewellery included?

Under Hanafi practice (default in Pakistan), gold jewellery is zakatable at current market value by purity, even if worn. Confirm with your scholar if unsure.

How are debts deducted?

Outstanding personal debts reduce net wealth. Many contemporary fatwa bodies deduct amounts due within the next 12 months rather than full long-term mortgage principal — this tool follows the configured debt rule.

How is Zakat amount calculated?

Total assets minus deductible liabilities gives net wealth. If net wealth meets or exceeds the active nisab threshold, Zakat payable is 2.5% of net wealth (rate shown in results).

Where do gold and silver rates come from?

Rates default from Admin gold/silver settings (market-derived or cached). You can override gold and silver PKR per gram manually on the form before calculating.

What is government notified nisab?

A PKR threshold banks may use for at-source Zakat on savings. It can differ from personal Hanafi silver or gold nisab — select the method that matches your calculation approach.

Are business assets included?

Yes. Enter business stock/inventory, business cash, accounts receivable, recoverable loans given, and other assets in the Assets section. Deduct qualifying liabilities on the Liabilities side.

What if net wealth is below nisab?

When net wealth is below the active nisab threshold, Zakat is not due on that calculation — the results panel shows Zakat applicable: No.

Is this religious or legal advice?

No. This is an educational planning calculator using stated Hanafi-oriented defaults and Admin rates. Personal circumstances, madhab, and asset classification may differ — consult a qualified scholar for binding guidance.

Is my financial data uploaded?
