How to Use the PDF to JPG & PNG Converter

Upload a PDF, choose JPG or PNG, optionally limit pages and quality, convert in your browser, then preview and download images or a ZIP.

  1. Upload a PDF file.
  2. Choose JPG or PNG output.
  3. Optionally set quality (for JPG) and page range (all pages, a range like 1-3, or a list like 1,3,5).
  4. Press Convert.
  5. Preview page images when ready.
  6. Download individual images or Download all as a ZIP when multiple pages were converted.

Methodology & PDF rasterization engine

Document conversion uses client-side WebAssembly / PDF.js rendering. The engine parses the PDF object cross-reference table, renders vector font glyphs and embedded raster streams into an HTML5 canvas at target DPI (72, 150, or 300 DPI), and exports JPEG or PNG image blobs.

Multi-page documents are packaged into a standard ZIP archive client-side without transmitting document contents to external servers.

Worked PDF rasterization example

  • Input document: 4-page annual report PDF (Page size: Letter 8.5 × 11 inches).
  • Export settings: Format = JPEG; Quality = 85%; DPI = 150 DPI.
  • Canvas rasterization: 8.5 × 150 = 1,275 px width; 11 × 150 = 1,650 px height per page.
  • Output: 4 standalone high-resolution JPEG files (average 280 KB each) zipped into a single download archive.
  • Processing time: ~1.2 seconds executed entirely within the local browser runtime.

Output options

  • JPG — smaller files; Standard and High quality presets.
  • PNG — lossless page images; typically larger than JPG.
  • One image per selected page; Download All packs multiple pages into a ZIP.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting OCR or editable text — pages are rasterized images only.
  • Uploading a password-protected PDF (not supported).
  • Converting every page when only a range like 1-3 or 1,3,5 is needed.

Privacy

PDF rendering and image export run in your browser. PDFs and generated images are not uploaded to ToolsLibrary servers.

Limitations

No password-protected PDFs, OCR, PDF editing, or vector export. Very large or high-page-count files may be slow or fail on low-memory devices. Quality depends on the source PDF and chosen JPG/PNG settings.

FAQ

Can I convert PDF to JPG?

Yes. Upload a PDF, choose JPG, convert, then download each page as a JPEG image. Quality presets are Standard and High.

Can I convert PDF to PNG?

Yes. Select PNG for lossless page images. PNG files are typically larger than JPG.

Does every PDF page become an image?

Yes when you convert all pages. Each selected page is rendered as a separate JPG or PNG file.

Can I convert selected pages?

Yes. Leave pages as All, or enter a range such as 1-3 or a list such as 1,3,5.

Which is better, JPG or PNG?

JPG is smaller and suited to photos or presentation slides. PNG is lossless and better when you need sharp text or graphics without extra compression artifacts.

Is the PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Processed in your browser; not uploaded to ToolsLibrary servers. Generated images stay on your device.

Can I download all pages?

Yes. After conversion, use Download All to get a ZIP of the generated images when there is more than one page.

Does the tool work on mobile?

Yes in modern mobile browsers, subject to device memory. Very large PDFs may convert more slowly or fail on low-memory phones.
