How to Use the Fill PDF Form

Upload a PDF, fill detected AcroForm fields and optional overlays, validate required entries, choose flatten or editable export, then download — all locally.

  1. Upload a PDF with drag-and-drop or the file picker.
  2. Wait for field detection — review the field list and click into values on the canvas.
  3. Switch tools to add text, date, signature, image, checkbox, or highlight overlays if needed.
  4. Navigate pages, zoom, and undo/redo overlay edits.
  5. Fix any required-field validation issues shown before export.
  6. Choose Flatten or keep fields editable, then Download PDF (or Print).

AcroForm vs overlays

  • AcroForm — native fillable widgets detected automatically.
  • Overlays — free-form annotations when the PDF has no usable fields.
  • XFA-only PDFs — detection warns you; overlays still work for manual marking.

Flatten vs editable export

Flatten bakes values into page content for submission/archival. Editable export keeps widgets active for recipients who must adjust fields later.

Privacy

PDF bytes and autosave sessions stay on your device. ToolsLibrary does not store documents on servers.

Limitations

Browser-based filling with Admin size caps — not a legally binding e-sign platform. Complex forms, JavaScript actions, and certificate signatures may not behave like Adobe Acrobat desktop.

FAQ

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Filling, signing, and exporting run entirely in your browser. Autosave uses local storage on your device only.

What form fields are detected?

Standard AcroForm text fields, checkboxes, radio groups, and dropdowns. XFA-only forms are not supported — use overlays for those PDFs.

What does Flatten PDF mean?

Flattening permanently embeds filled values and overlays so fields are no longer editable in other readers. You can also download with fields still editable.

Can I continue later?

Yes. When autosave is enabled in Admin PDF settings, field values and overlays are saved locally so you can resume on this device.

Can I add a signature or image?

Yes. Draw a signature, place text or date stamps, insert images, add checkmarks, or highlight regions on any page.

How do required fields work?

The tool validates required AcroForm fields before export and lists issues so you can fix missing values.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes. Admin PDF tool settings set max upload size. Large scanned forms may be slow or fail on low-memory mobile browsers.

Can I print the filled PDF?

Yes. Use Print from the toolbar after filling, or download and print from your PDF viewer.

Will every government PDF work?

PDFs built with standard AcroForm fields work best. XFA-only, DRM-locked, or heavily scripted forms may need desktop Adobe Acrobat.
