Device Information
System & Device Tools — Device Information scans your browser environment using standard web APIs. It reports general device details, display metrics, hardware hints, network status, battery (when supported), optional location, browser feature support, permission states, and security context, then calculates an overall device health score. Unsupported APIs show as unavailable — never as errors.
How to Use the Device Information
Open the page to scan your browser environment, review section cards and the health score, optionally allow location, then export or copy the report.
- Open Device Information — the scan starts automatically on load.
- Review General, Display, Hardware, Network, Battery, Location, Features, Permissions, and Security cards.
- Check the overall device health score and per-section breakdown at the top.
- Click Refresh after network or permission changes, or allow location when prompted for geo fields.
- Copy individual values or use Download JSON / Download TXT for the full report.
- Use Print if you need a paper-friendly summary for IT support.
Health score methodology
- Network — online status, connection type, and downlink hints.
- Security — HTTPS, secure context, and JavaScript availability.
- Features & permissions — supported APIs and current permission states.
- Battery & display — contribute when the browser exposes them.
Privacy
Core scanning uses local browser APIs. Reverse geocoding for city labels calls a public endpoint only after you grant location. No full device profile is uploaded to ToolsLibrary.
Limitations
Unavailable fields are normal — browsers differ by OS and version. The health score is indicative troubleshooting feedback, not a certified hardware audit.
FAQ
Why are some fields unavailable?
Browsers only expose certain APIs. When a feature is missing or blocked, ToolsLibrary shows “Not available in this browser.” instead of an error.
Does location work without permission?
Location requires your consent via the browser Geolocation API. If you deny permission, those fields remain unavailable.
Is any data sent to a server?
Device scanning runs in your browser. Optional city weather/location reverse-geocode uses public geocoding endpoints only after you allow location.
What is the device health score?
A composite 0–100 score from network, display, battery, permissions, security context, and browser feature support — useful for quick troubleshooting, not a warranty or performance benchmark.
Can I export the report?
Yes. Download the full scan as JSON or plain text, or copy individual values from the section cards.
Why is battery information missing on desktop?
The Battery Status API is not available in all browsers or on all platforms. Desktop Chrome may hide battery data; the tool reports unavailable instead of guessing.
What permissions are checked?
The tool queries permission states the browser exposes (e.g. geolocation, notifications, camera, microphone) and shows granted, denied, or prompt — without triggering new prompts unless you choose location refresh.
Does the scan include my exact street address?
No. Location fields reflect Geolocation API coordinates and optional reverse-geocoded city/region — not a mailed street address unless your browser and provider return that level of detail.
How often should I refresh?
Click Refresh after changing network, plugging in power, or granting permissions to update readings. Values are point-in-time snapshots.
Can I use this to fingerprint other users?
This page shows information about your own browser session only. It is a diagnostic tool for your device — not a remote surveillance or tracking product.
